Episode 1: Interview With Wayne Gimingham
Thanks again for being open to this, I really appreciate it! đ
To start us off, could you briefly introduce yourself?
What kind of coaching do you do, and whatâs the deeper reason that led you into it?

Thanks so much for inviting me to be part of this. Iâm really honored to share a bit of my journey.
I’m a purpose-driven coach who helps aspiring and certified coaches build aligned, profitable businesses without losing themselves in the process. My background is in corporate leadership, with over 25 years in the medical device industry and nearly two decades leading high-performing sales teams. But like many of the people I now coach, I reached a point where external success wasnât enough. I wanted more meaning, more alignment, and a way to use my gifts to truly help others.
What led me into coaching was that deeper desire for purpose, not just in my own life, but in helping others design lives and businesses that feel deeply fulfilling. I believe coaches are catalysts for transformation, and I love helping them step into that role with clarity, confidence, and integrity. Working with coaches also ultimately magnifies the impact I can make đ
The pleasure is mine đ€©
Thanks for sharing such a thoughtful introduction and the story behind your work.
Looking back on your journey so far, whatâs something you had to let go of or work through, something that felt tough at the time but helped you grow as a coach?

One of the biggest things I had to work through was the resistance to investing in myself after getting certified. Iâd already paid for my life coaching certification, but when it came to hiring a coach to help me launch and grow my business, I hesitated. I kept trying to piece it all together on my own, but that just kept me stuck.
What finally made the difference was getting real support, someone to guide the strategy and help me take focused action. That shift is a big part of why I now help other certified coaches do the same. You donât have to keep figuring it out alone.
Thanks for sharing that. Itâs something I know a lot of coaches can relate to. That in-between space after certification can be quite tough to navigate.
In your experience from working with other coaches, why do you think so many are hesitant to invest in support after getting certified?

Such a great question. I think a lot of coaches come out of certification thinking they should be able to figure it out on their own. Thereâs often this pressure to prove that theyâve got what it takes, and investing in business support can feel like admitting theyâre not ready, which isnât true at all.
I also think many donât realize that coaching and running a coaching business are two very different things. Just because you’re a great coach doesn’t mean you automatically know how to market, sell, or build a business, and thatâs not a failure, itâs just a different skill set.
Thereâs often a mindset block around money too. After spending on certification, they start seeing support as an expense rather than an investment in building something sustainable. But without the right guidance, they stay stuck in that in-between space, overthinking, unsure where to start, and slowly losing confidence.
Once they shift that perspective and get the right support, things can move quickly. Thatâs when they start showing up fully and building real momentum.
Honestly, Wayne, thatâs really insightful, and you bring up some valid points. The pressure to âfigure it out aloneâ is so real.
If you could go back, what would you tell your just-getting-started self? Something they really needed to hear at the time?

Honestly, Iâd tell myself to start marketing and building a following way earlier. Instead of waiting until after certification, and then getting frustrated a year or two down the line, I wouldâve started sharing my story and journey during the certification process itself.
And I wouldâve invested in a business coach right away, someone to guide me on the strategy, the marketing, and how to actually build a coaching business. That support wouldâve saved me a lot of time, energy, and second-guessing.
By the time I was certified, people couldâve already been following my journey, connecting with me, and seeing the value I bring. A lot of new coaches wait too long to focus on visibility and offers, but that part really needs to start early.
Thatâs such a solid insight, and I really appreciate how well you laid it out. Iâm also a huge believer in sharing the process as it unfolds, instead of waiting until everythingâs âreadyâ. That early visibility is super helpful.
Where can people connect with you or learn more about your work?

The best place to connect with me is on Facebook, through my personal profile. Thatâs where I share most of my content and connect with people who are on a similar journey.
It really is that simple. Everything starts with real conversations, usually in Messenger, and if it feels right, we take it further on a Zoom call.
A lot of people try to make it too complicated too early, but you donât need fancy tech or complex systems to get started. Just genuine connection, simple tools, and clear support.
