For a long time when I thought about marketing, it was always around something like “How do I make people see what I do?” or “How do I get the word out there?” “How do I make people pay me for this?”
That perspective shaped every decision I made, everything I created. And for years, I didn’t get much meaningful results.
It was easy to blame lack of consistency. Maybe I didn’t put myself out there enough. Maybe I didn’t work as hard as I should have.
Right now, I’m so grateful things happened exactly the way they did.
I’m glad I didn’t consistently show up when deep down, I didn’t believe in the work I did, and only just wanted to survive.
I’m also glad I didn’t work too hard either. Turns out I wasn’t supposed to work so hard in the first place.
I read something in a book that makes so much sense now: “You can’t be seen unless you learn to see.”
I prioritized “seeing” vs wanting to be seen, and surprisingly, that has only led to more people seeing my work.
