Showing Up As An Expert – Coaching Business Journey

The fancy badge.

I’m noticing a lot lately.

I don’t know if those things have been there before, and I’m only just paying attention to them now.

For instance, for some months, there’s this butterfly I’ve been seeing a lot. I came out this morning, and behold, there it was, and more exactly like it.

It was really fascinating to see a lot of butterflies of similar color, shape, and probably design.

Sometimes, I find myself saying “I wonder why I haven’t noticed that before now.”

The thing is, the past is gone, and now is here.

Whatever is happening right now is all that matters right now.

Had an interesting conversation around marketing with someone who seemed like they should know better (judging by their fancy badge which helped them stand out as an “expert”).

The conversation was in itself so beautiful because they said they didn’t agree with me, and then went ahead to basically agree with me, while insisting that they were disagreeing with me.

The experience made me learn something new about “building authority.”

Before now, I thought you build authority and credibility only by consistently posting stuff about trending/related topics.

It seems you can also build authority by professionally responding to people who don’t agree with you, instead of shunning them completely.

I wouldn’t do this too much though. I’m honestly not here to argue.

If you want to try this out, make sure that your responses are backed by knowledge, and be kind.

Don’t take anything personally, and remember to also STOP responding at the right time.

Some people really believe that they know better. It’s draining to try to show them that no one knows everything.

And like the world, marketing is changing too.

Everything changes. Only God is constant.

So the approach that worked for someone else 30 years ago may not work for you right now.

It’s helpful to remain curious and open to learning more.

Remember to do more of whatever doesn’t feel like a chore.
